Speech Day 2018

Speech Day 2018
St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School feels deeply grateful to have been joined by prominent guests, well-wishing parents, teachers and friends aplenty at the annual Speech Day 2017-2018 in the afternoon of 25th May, 2018. We felt thoroughly privileged to have had, as the Guest of Honour, Dr. Chen Pak Lam, Sammy, a distinguished alumnus, Bachelor of Medicine and Master of Research in Medicine at the University of Hong Kong. Other honorable guests included Rev. Fr. Peter Lo Pak Wing, Mr. Lee On Lit, Andrew, School Manager, Ms. Chow Man Yee, School Manager, Mr. Lam Tak Ming, Chairman of Parent-Teacher Association, Mr. Hui Ki Fung, Chairman of Rev. Bro. Paul Sun Education Foundation, Miss Kwok Wan, Principal of St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese Primary School, Mr. Chu Fu Yau, Dominic, Supervisor and Mr. Poon Wing Keung, Principal.

The proceedings began with the school song, followed by a prayer led by Rev. Fr. Peter Lo Pak Wing. Our supervisor, Mr. Chu, and our principal, Mr. Poon, delivered a welcome speech and a school report respectively.

The keynote speech of the afternoon was given by a distinguished alumnus of St. Joseph’s, Dr. Chen Pak Lam, Sammy. Dr. Chen is the Consulting Pathologist in the Chemical Pathology Laboratory at Yan Chai Hospital and Associate Consultant in the Department of Pathology at Princess Margaret Hospital. He is also the Honorary Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemical Pathology (HKU) and the Department of Pathology (CUHK), making a great contribution to medical development. In his speech, Dr. Chen shared his invaluable life experiences. He reminded graduates to equip themselves with ‘SJACS’ – Spirit quotient, Joint-force quotient, Adversity quotient and Computer quotient for the pursuit of their dreams.

The speeches were followed by the distribution of the graduation certificates and academic awards to the graduates. The school community would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our guests for their assistance and patience during the inevitably lengthy process.

After the formal component of the proceedings ended, the audience was pleased to be entertained by the excellent performances of the students from St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School and its feeder primary school. This began with a brilliant performance of the primary section’s drama. Then, the representatives of the graduates impressed the audience with their amazing band show.

A rousing rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’, which reminded our graduates of all their happy days in St. Joseph’s, brought the ceremony to a blissful end.
