St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School Speech Day 2016

St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School Speech Day 2016

The annual Speech Day for St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School for the academic year 2015-2016 was held during the afternoon of 27th May 2016 at Rev. Bro. Paul Sun Memorial Hall.  The Guest of Honour, Dr. Leung Lim Kin, Simon, School Managers, Supervisor, Mr. Koo Yee Yin, Irving, SBS, JP, Principal, Mr. Poon Wing Keung, teachers, parents and students were present.

The proceedings were begun with an opening prayer led by Rev. Fr. Dino Doimo, School Manager.  A welcoming speech and school report were then given by the School Supervisor, Mr. Koo, and Principal, Mr. Poon, respectively.

The keynote speech of the afternoon was delivered by a distinguished alumnus of St. Joseph’s, Dr. Leung Lim Kin, Simon, Vice Chairman of NetDragon Websoft Inc., Chief Executive Officer of Huaya Education Technology, and Chairman of the Board, Promethean World Limited. Dr Leung is an insightful leader who has spearheaded the development in IT and telecommunications in the Asia Pacific region for over 30 years. In his speech, Dr. Leung encouraged graduates to have the courage to take risks and seize each opportunity in their future endeavours. He also stressed the importance of embracing lifelong learning in order to get prepared for the opportunities.

The speeches were followed by the distribution of the graduation certificates and academic awards to the graduates.  We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to our Guests of Honour for their assistance and patience during the inevitably lengthy process.

After the formal component of the proceedings, the audience was pleased to be entertained by enthralling performances of students from St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School and its feeder primary school.  This began with the primary section’s drama performance ‘Superheroes’. It was then followed by a band performance of the graduates who impressed the audience with their amazing music talents and sentimental singing.

A rousing rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’, which reminded our graduates of all their happy days in St. Joseph’s, brought the ceremony to a blissful end.
