2013 Speech Day

2013 Speech Day

The annual Speech Day for St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School for the academic year 2012-2013 was held in the afternoon of 31st May 2013 at the School Hall. The Supervisor, Principal, Teachers, parents and students were present. A number of distinguished Guests of Honour and friends of St. Joseph’s were also kind enough to arrange time in their busy schedules to attend.

The proceedings were begun with the entry procession and an opening prayer led by Rev. Dino Doimo. This was followed by a reading from the New Testament, rendered by Rev. Dino Doimo. The opening speech was given by Mr. Koo Yee-yin, School Supervisor. He congratulated the graduates and thanked the honorable guests for joining the Speech Day.

The keynote speech of the afternoon was delivered by a distinguished alumnus of St. Joseph’s, His Honor Judge Yee Kai Siu, District Judge, District Court. Mr. Yee encouraged students to have a vision and persevere despite the difficulties ahead. He shared the stories of himself and his secondary school friends to explain how one could achieve his dream step by step and that success was only for the one who had a clear vision and was well prepared. Mr. Yee finally thanked the principal and all teacher staff for their wholeheartedly devotion in guiding the future leaders in the society.

This was followed by the conferment of the graduation certificates and subject awards. We would like to take this opportunity to extend a warm vote of thanks to our Guests of Honour for this important occasion.

After the formal component of the proceedings, the audience was pleased to be entertained by the excellent performances of the students from St. Joseph’s Anglo-Chinese School and its feeder primary school.

This began with the impressive performances of the primary section’s dramas. This was followed by the secondary section’s solo verses and the Recorder Group. The English Drama Club impressed the audience with the lively stage presence of our budding young actors and interesting stage actions.

A rousing rendition of ‘Auld Lang Syne’, which reminded our graduates of all their happy days in St. Joseph’s, brought the ceremony to a joyful end.
